Two females aged 23 from University of Venda, Limpopo were gang-raped at the bush on Tuesday 25 August 2020.
The provincinal police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said it is alleged that four suspects, one with a firearm broke into the rooms of three students outside the University residents at Thohoyandou P west. They robbed a 30-year-old male student his cellphone and money. They continue to other rooms and robbed two females students there cellphone and laptop.
Motlafela said “The suspects then took two victims both 23 to the bush nearby and gang-raped them. One of the suspect started to attack the police throwing brick towards them which lead to a shot out, the police shot him on his leg and was taken to Tshilidzini Hospital for treatment. Police believe that he will lead them to other suspects.
The police in Thohoyandou are looking for the suspects facing cases of house robbery and two counts of rape.
