Rhino Horn Trafficking Ring Busted in Pretoria, Six Arrested
Six individuals believed to be part of a large-scale international rhino horn trafficking operation were apprehended in Sunnyside, Pretoria earlier today. The arrests were made by the Wildlife Trafficking Section, working under the Economic Protected Resources unit, which is part of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation team (Hawks) based at their headquarters.
The operation marks a significant blow against the illegal wildlife trade, which continues to threaten endangered species like the rhino. Officials have been investigating the syndicate for some time, building a case based on intelligence gathered from various sources.
Rhino horn is highly sought after in some Asian countries, where it is falsely believed to have medicinal properties. This demand fuels a po****ing c**** that devastates rhino populations across Africa.
Authorities are hoping these arrests will disrupt the syndicate’s activities and provide valuable information about the wider network involved in this ill***** trade. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
