Illegal Miner Arrested at Thabazimbi Gold Mine

Thabazimbi – An intelligence-led operation by the Vala Umgodi Task Team at the Dwaalboom–Batavia Old Gold Mine on Wednesday, August 14th, resulted in the arrest of a suspected illegal miner.

Police swooped on the site following information received. A 33-year-old man was found actively mining at the location. He was immediately apprehended and faces charges related to illegal mining activities.

The operation is part of an ongoing effort by the South African Police Service (SAPS) to clamp down on unlawful mining practices in the region. Authorities are keen to stress their commitment to upholding the law and protecting legitimate mining operations.
