Klerksdorp Detective and Two Others Face Hijacking Charges in Court

A Klerksdorp Detective Sergeant and two other individuals have appeared in court charged with hijacking offences. The case has sent ripples through the local community, raising concerns about law enforcement and public safety.

Detective Sergeant Tshepo Pooe, aged 41, stood alongside Christiaan Erasmus, 37, and Athini Johnson Sonamzi, 29, in the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 18th, 2025. All three are accused of being involved in a hijacking incident. The details surrounding the incident are still emerging, and police have released very little further information.

The trio were remanded in custody following their initial appearance. Their next court date is yet to be announced.
