Nine Arrested in Sekhukhune Illegal Mining Crackdown

Nine individuals have been apprehended in a joint operation targeting illegal mining activities in the Sekhukhune District. The operation, dubbed #sapsLIM Joint Vala Umgodi, took place on the 15th of August and focused on identified hotspots in Thaba Balotsaneng, Maponong village, and Mooihoek.

The coordinated effort, led by the South African Police Service (SAPS), aimed to disrupt unlawful mining operations that have been causing environmental damage and impacting local communities. The nine arrested individuals are expected to face charges related to illegal mining.
