Royal Heritage Festival Promises “Hot” Celebration Airing on SABC2 and Phalaphala FM

Fancy a bit of South African culture without leaving the UK? Well, maybe not *quite* without leaving the UK, but let’s talk about something interesting happening all the way over in sunny South Africa! I stumbled across this on “X” (formerly Twitter, remember that?) and thought it sounded brilliant. It’s called the Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival.

Apparently, it takes place at a place called Royal Gardens, which is right by the Nandoni Dam. Sounds absolutely beautiful, doesn’t it? I had a quick look myself, see? Check out this tweet from the Festival account!

The hashtags suggest it’s broadcast on SABC2 (South Africa’s national broadcaster) and promoted by Phalaphala FM (a local radio station). It seems like a proper celebration of local culture and heritage.

While I’m sat here with a cup of tea looking out at the drizzle, I can only imagine the sunshine, the music and the dancing that must be going on. I wonder what sort of things are celebrated at the festival? I tried to find out more.

I tried searching “Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival” and “Royal Gardens Nandoni Dam”, there are other attractions in the area. If you’re planning a visit to the area of Thohoyandou and the Royal Gardens, why not check out the local government website at City of Thohoyandou News.

Right, back to my tea. But it’s definitely put a little sunshine in my day thinking about it!
